Leah’s Image Tips

Ask Leah

Leah says: Not necessarily. If you have several suits of different colors and a wide variety of ties, you can get many different looks by mixing and matching what's in your closet. Your suits, jackets, and slacks are the workhorses in your wardrobe. On the other hand, your shirts and ties allow you to be more creative, so you might want more a more varied assortment of shirt colors for that reason depending on your profession. Also, I have to hope that you're one of the lucky people who actually look good in the pale blue and stark white dress shirts. Pale blue can wash out your complexion and make you appear drained if it's not one of your best colors. Full spectrum white shows up every wrinkle, blemish and freckle in the face, and, if your teeth aren't that same stark white, they'll appear yellowed in comparison. Unfortunately, blue and white have been the "classic" colors in the business world for so long that many people wear them without realizing they may not really look very good in them.
